Roberto Raga is Doctor in GeoEngineering and since February 2006 he is Assistant Professor at IMAGE, Department of Hydraulic, Maritime, Environmental and Geotechnical Engineering of the University of Padova (IT). His teaching and research activities are focused on municipal solid waste treatment and disposal in landfill, management of leachate and biogas emissions, old landfill remediation.
Since 2008 he teaches the course "Remediation of contaminated sites” for the international students of the Second Cycle Degree Programme (MSc Level) in Environmental Engineering at the University of Padova.
Alberto Pivato - Scientific Secretary
Alberto Pivato is a Researcher at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Padova, Italy. His main fields of interest are ecotoxicology, waste management, environmental impact assessment, risk analysis and remediation of contaminated sites. Since 2016 he has moved his research interests to anaerobic digestion. He is member of the Task Group on Waste Biorefinery of the International Waste Working Group (IWWG).
Bachelor Degree and Master of Science in Environmental Engineering at the University of Padova (IT), he is currently a Ph.D. candidate of the Department of Industrial Engineering (DII) of the same university.
His research activities aim to identify alternative, cost-effective treatments for municipal and industrial wastewaters, including landfill leachate.
During his master thesis, he proved that landfill leachate can be effectively phytoremediated by using sunflowers, soybean, rapseed and tobacco.
Francesca Girotto is currently a PhD student at the University of Padova (IT), Department of Industrial Engineering. She is researching on the topic of Food Waste Management.
She received her MSc Degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Padova (IT) in April 2014 with a thesis on “De-incineration of Adult Disposable Diapers”.
She was Visiting Student at Fukuoka University (JP) from September 2013 to March 2014 with a project on “Ammonia Removal in Wastewater by Calcium Polymer (Ca-P) from Disposable Diapers Recycling System”.
